Because of our sin, all mankind is separated from God. Because God is perfect and holy, He can’t just simply forgive us for our sins. God says that the penalty for our sin is death (Romans 6:23). But since God Himself is love (1 John 4:8), He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to dwell among us (John 1:13). Jesus lived the perfect life we could not live without ever sinning. Jesus is truly God and truly man, and He was crucified because He claimed to be God and called the world to repentance (which means giving up any hope of saving yourself and recognizing your sinfulness). We can’t change our minds by our self—it is a gracious gift from God. We must pray and ask God to change our minds about who He is and grant us repentance. Jesus died as the Scriptures say—He was buried and three days later God raised Him from the dead to announce that He accepted Jesus’ sacrifice for all the sin of those who will ever believe. This is good news for you and me. That is the gospel. Jesus rose from the dead, He ascended into heaven, and now He sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Mediator for all of those who repent and put all of their faith in Jesus Christ. We must look to him and him alone for salvation, for life, for hope, and for peace. You must put all of your trust in Him and believe the good news that God has done for his people that which they could never do for themselves. Eternal life is only found in a Person, and that Person is Jesus Christ (John 10:28). Will you trust in Jesus today? Ask God to save you based on the merity of Jesus Christ today.
